WorkAssist didn’t start in a boardroom. It started on a factory floor in Nara, Japan, where a production manager noticed something: the workers who lasted longest on their feet weren’t wearing the thickest socks — they were wearing the smartest ones.
20 Years of Iteration
That observation became a two-decade engineering project. Every element of a WorkAssist sock — the arch tension, the pile height, the fibre blend, the toe seam — has been tested, rejected, and refined across hundreds of iterations. Not in a lab, but on real factory floors, with real workers giving real feedback.
Why Canada?
Canada’s industrial workforce faces conditions that most global markets don’t: extreme cold, extreme heat (in summer warehouses), long shifts, and some of the strictest workplace safety standards in the world. Japanese engineering meets Canadian endurance — it’s a natural fit.
We also noticed a gap: Canadian workers had access to excellent boots but mediocre socks. A $250 pair of Red Wings deserves better than a $3 cotton tube sock. WorkAssist fills that gap.
Built for the Shift
Every product decision we make runs through one filter: does this help a worker get through their shift with less pain and more energy? If the answer isn’t clearly yes, we don’t ship it. That’s why our lineup is focused — five core products, each engineered for a specific need, rather than fifty variations of the same thing.
What’s Next
We’re expanding our retail partnerships across Canada, building out our wholesale program for industrial suppliers, and developing new products for specialized trades. The mission stays the same: engineer the best possible sock for the people who stand the longest.
If your feet are tired, we built WorkAssist for you.
